What our recent guests said:

From the guestbook, all the comments we've received this season:

"Wow! Wow! Wow! have had the most fantastic time staying in this lovely gite, which is located in a beautiful part of France. The weather has been hot & sunny every day, so it has been great for exploring the magical Huelgoat forest, walking the north Brittany coastal path and relaxing outside in the amazing grounds of the gite. Max, Emma & family have been wonderful hosts - so friendly, helpful & accommodating.

The gite is so clean, fresh, tidy and well-equipped - it has everything you need for a comfortable stay. We will definitely be back later this year, but for longer than one week! Thank you so much Max, Emma & family for a fabulous, relaxing week!!"

"We've had a fantastic week here and wish it could have been longer. Max, Emma and family have been great hosts, very friendly and helpful. The gite is delightful and perfectly positioned to explore the surrounding area, though it's perfect for spending a quiet day in if you just need to recharge your batteries. We'd definitely like to come back again. Thank you Max, Emma & family."

The smallholding

Meet Mungo & Midge, our pot-bellied pigs:

We also have hens and guinea fowl and, any day now, goats, ducks and more pigs! Kervéguen gite is set within our family smallholding which comprises over six acres of beautiful Breton countryside given over to growing vegetables, fruit ... and animals. You are welcome to explore and to sample life on a smallholding...

Huelgoat

The small town of Huelgoat is a very short drive over the hill from Kervéguen gite. It boasts a beautiful lake and spectacular walks into the famous 'chaos' of huge boulders. There is a market on Thursdays, a full range of shops and banks and an excellent little supermarket.

Les forêts

One of the best things about the centre of Finistère is the forest. Miles and miles of footpaths run through peaceful, ancient and sometimes mysterious woodland. It's a walker's and cyclist's paradise. The national park around Huelgoat (less than 10 minutes away) is, rightly, famous. But there are also days and days of discovery in other nearby forests where you'll be undisturbed from one end of the day to another...

If you want directions for shorter walks we have produced some simple maps for our guests. Please ask for more details. Ideal for adventurers of all ages!

Locquirec

One of our favourite resorts is lovely Locquirec. There are lots of secret coves and beaches to discover - all about 50 minutes from our front door...

Beyond the garden...

... there are plenty of ancient tracks to discover in this unspoilt Breton backwater...

Gite garden

Visitors to the gite have exclusive use of a large, child -friendly garden area.

Les Lacs

In addition to a spectacular coastline, central Brittany offers the attraction of two reservoirs, Drennec and Guerlédan which provide an excellent amenity for children and for outdoor sport.

Both are within 45 minutes drive of Kervéguen gite.

Beaches

Brittany is a big place. Staying on one of the coasts means a long drive if you want to visit any of the others. The central position of Kervéguen gite means the north and west coasts are only an hour away and much of the south coast about two hours by car.

Plestin-les-Grèves is one hour to the north:

St Nic is one hour to the west:

As you can see, the beaches of Brittany aren't overcrowded!

Les Monts d'Arrée

Within easy reach of the gite are forests, lakes and the spectacular west coast of Brittany. About 15 minutes' drive to the north of Kervéguen gite is another sort of landscape altogether: the open moorland of Les Monts d'Arée.

Although only 1000 feet high these ancient hills make up for their lack of stature with spectacular views to the north coast and over central Brittany. A great place for a walk on a hot summer day or a cold winter morning...
